Bildest Du Deine Hunde separat aus f\u00fcr die Arbeit beim Milit\u00e4r und im Sport? Kann ein Hund IGP machen und beim Milit\u00e4r eingesetzt werden? <\/em><\/p>

Ja, jeder Hund hat seine eigene Spezialisierung. Aber jeder Hund muss sich f\u00fchren lassen. Gehorsam steht deswegen zu Hause und bei der Arbeit ganz oben. Einige Bestandteile des Hundesports \u00fcberschneiden sich mit den Dienstanforderungen. Es h\u00e4ngt alles von den pers\u00f6nlichen Zielen f\u00fcr den Hund ab. Wenn das Ziel das Treppchen der IGP-Weltmeisterschaften ist, dann muss man jeden Tag m\u00f6glichst OHNE FEHLER mit dem Hund arbeiten, um dem Ziel mit kleinen Schritten n\u00e4her zu kommen. Das ist lange und harte Arbeit. <\/p>

Im Dienst muss der Hund gewisse Dinge nicht so zeigen wie im Sport. Der unbedingte Fokus, schnelle \u00dcbungen, keiner fragt nach einem Funkeln in den Augen. Aber egal, welche Arbeit, ob Personensuche oder Sprengstoffsuche: die Anforderungen sind dergestalt, dass viel auf dem Spiel steht. Und ein Fehler kann mich oder einen anderen das Leben kosten. W\u00fcrde man vom Hund alles verlangen, also das, was er im Sport und im Dienst zeigen m\u00fcsste, k\u00e4me Mittelma\u00df heraus. Im Sport gibt es f\u00fcr Mittelma\u00df Punkt-Abzug. Bei der Arbeit kann ein Fehler t\u00f6dlich sein. Unsere (Dienst-)Hunde haben alle eine Grundausbildung in IGP, dem wohl anspruchvollsten Sportstandard. Im Verlauf der IGP-Ausbildung k\u00f6nnen wir die St\u00e4rken und Schw\u00e4chen des Hundes besonders gut sehen. Und die m\u00fcssen wir f\u00fcr die Zucht kennen. Es sind aber zwei Paar Schuhe: der Beste zu sein oder eine Grundausbildung zu haben. <\/p>

Was ist deiner Meinung nach das Wichtigste, um hohe Ergebnisse zu erreichen \u2013 Genetik, individuelle Eigenschaften des Hundes oder Training?<\/em><\/p>

Das spielt alles eine Rolle f\u00fcr ein hohes Ergebnis. Ich pers\u00f6nlich stelle die Genetik an die Spitze dieser Pyramide. Aber die Genetik ist ein Potential, mit dem ein Mensch arbeiten k\u00f6nnen muss.<\/p>

Worauf achtest Du bei der Auswahl eines Welpen f\u00fcr Sport oder Milit\u00e4r? Wenn Du dir einen beliebigen Hund aussuchen k\u00f6nntest, w\u00e4re es derselbe f\u00fcr Milit\u00e4r und Sport oder unterschiedliche?<\/em><\/p>

Ein guter Hund ist f\u00fcr mich ein guter Hund. Ich w\u00fcrde f\u00fcr beides den gleichen Hund ausw\u00e4hlen. Ein GUTER Hund, der im IGP-Sport erfolgreich ist, kann jeden Dienst bew\u00e4ltigen. Aber nicht jeder Hund, der seine Aufgabe im Dienst erfolgreich erf\u00fcllt, kann auch im IGP erfolgreich sein<\/p>

Glaubst Du, dass Hundesportler und Diensthundef\u00fchrer etwas voneinander lernen k\u00f6nnen? K9-and-Sports will ja die Zusammenarbeit und den Austausch zwischen der Dienst- und Sporthundewelt unterst\u00fctzen. <\/em><\/p>

Nat\u00fcrlich ist Erfahrungsaustausch immer sinnvoll. Fr\u00fcher hat es den auch viel mehr gegeben, auch Wettk\u00e4mpfe f\u00fcr Diensthundef\u00fchrer und Hundesportler. Man sollte immer von den Besten lernen. Gibt es Statistiken zu Diensthundef\u00fchrern? Wer bewertet die Qualit\u00e4t ihrer Arbeit? Wo kann man ihre Arbeit sehen? Zumindest w\u00e4re es gut, gemeinsame Workshops zur Arbeit des Hundes in bestimmten Bereichen zu haben, z.B. bei der F\u00e4hrten- und Nasenarbeit. Damit Hundesportler und Diensthundef\u00fchrer sich austauschen k\u00f6nnen \u00fcber die Techniken, die sie im Training anwenden.<\/p>

Wie viele Hunde bei der Polizei oder beim Milit\u00e4rs in der Ukraine stammen von privaten Z\u00fcchtern? In welchem Alter holen sie sich ihre Hunde? Haben sie ein eigenes Zuchtprogramm oder hatten sie das in der Vergangenheit?<\/em><\/p>

Zur Polizei kann ich nichts sagen. Ich arbeite nicht in diesem Sektor. Das ukrainische Milit\u00e4r hat kein eigenes Zuchtprogram. Die Hunde stammen also alle privaten Z\u00fcchtern.<\/p>

Eine ganz andere Frage: wie f\u00fctterst Du Deine Hunde? <\/em><\/p>

Bis sie ungef\u00e4hr vier Monate sind, bekommen sie h\u00e4ufig Futter. Dann basiert meine Grundausbildung auf ihrem Futtertrieb. Meine Hunde fressen dann w\u00e4hrend des Trainings bzw. wenn sie mit mir arbeiten.  Feste Zeitpl\u00e4ne habe ich da nicht. Vor der Geburt meines Kindes war mein Alltag komplett unvorhersehbar. Es konnte jederzeit sein, dass ich zum Einsatz gerufen werde. F\u00fcr eine lange Zeit war es sehr schwierig. Ich hatte kaum Zeit zum Schlafen, weil ich stattdessen lieber mit dem Hund trainierte.<\/p>

Wie war es, auf einer WM zu f\u00fchren? Warst Du nerv\u00f6s? Und wenn ja, hat sich das auf Blicka \u00fcbertragen? <\/em><\/p>

Schon etwas, aber angesichts des Krieges hatte sich meine Einstellung zu manchem ge\u00e4ndert. Aber wenn Ihr das Video vom Schutzdienst gesehen habt, ist Euch sicherlich aufgefallen, dass ich den Ablauf vergessen habe. Das lag nat\u00fcrlich an mangelndem Training, meinen Nerven und vielen anderen Dingen. Vor dem F\u00e4hrten habe ich Blicka ins Auto gesperrt und meinen Schl\u00fcssel im Auto liegen lassen. Ich musste das Fenster einschlagen, damit sie nicht erstickt. Es war sehr hei\u00df. Das hat mich nat\u00fcrlich emotional betriffen. Ich h\u00f6rte eine Sirene heulen und verstand nicht, was los war. Aber wegen der Punkte an sich war ich nicht nerv\u00f6s. Und ich war danach mit der Arbeit von Blicka mehr als zufrieden. Mit meiner eigenen nicht an allen Stellen. Aber wir sind eben ein Team und wenn einer einen Fehler macht, gleicht der andere diesen Fehler aus.<\/p>

Ist Blicka ein ganz besonderer Hund oder k\u00f6nntest Du auch mit einem anderen Hund nochmal so erfolgreich sein? Wie viel macht Genetik und wie viel Training in deinen Augen aus?<\/em><\/p>

Blicka ist nat\u00fcrlich etwas Besonderes. Ich kenne keinen anderen Hund, der so viel gibt, obwohl es an Training fehlte. Sie ist ein Soldat, den man \u00fcberall einsetzen kann: ein Sport- und ein Diensthund, ein Kinderm\u00e4dchen f\u00fcr mein Kind und auch einfach ein Haustier. Ich habe immer alles getan, um auch unter schwierigen Bedingungen mit ihr zu arbeiten. Aber sie hat meine Erwartungen bei Weitem \u00fcbertroffen. <\/p>

Ob ich mit einem anderen Hund hohe sportliche Erfolge erzielen kann, werde ich leider noch eine ganze Weile nicht wissen. Leider ist mein junger DSH verstorben. Sie war ein ganz anderer Typ von Hund. Aber meine Trainingsmethoden haben auch bei ihr funktioniert. Genetik ist eine Option, eine Perspektive. Dieses Potential zu entfalten ist die Kunst und die Rolle des Hundef\u00fchrers.<\/p>

 Welche Disziplin und welche \u00dcbung magst Du am liebsten?<\/em><\/p>

Unterordnung! F\u00fcr mich ist die Unterordnung am komplexesten und erfordert den gr\u00f6\u00dften Einsatz Hundef\u00fchrer. In der Unterordnung zeigt sich die Beziehung zwischen Hund und Hundef\u00fchrer. Man kann sehen, ob Vertrauen da ist. Man kann das nat\u00fcrlich auch in A und C sehen. Aber dort \u00fcberlagern die Triebe mehr. Eine bestimmte Lieblings\u00fcbung habe ich nicht. Es macht mir einfach Spa\u00df, mit meinem Hund zu interagieren. Es ist wirklich magisch, wenn man das perfekte Trainingsbild zeigen kann.<\/p>

Wie siehst Du das F\u00e4hrten? Da wird ja ein Suchverhalten abgefragt, das der Praxis nicht entspricht.<\/em><\/p>

Ich bin keine Wissenschaftlerin und kann nur meine pers\u00f6nlichen Erfahrungen in der Arbeit mit Hunden teilen. Vielleicht liege ich falsch. Aber es stimmt: das F\u00e4hrten im IGP ist f\u00fcr den Hund kein nat\u00fcrliches Verhalten. Ich habe noch nie einen Dienst- oder Jagdhund gesehen, der immer mit der Nase am Boden sucht und jeden einzelnen Schritt ausarbeitet. Aber das ist genau die F\u00e4hrtentechnik, welche die Pr\u00fcfungsordnung festlegt. Ich behandle das F\u00e4hrten als einen Teil der Unterordnung, wo ich dem Hund ein bestimmtes Verhalten, eine bestimmte Technik beibringe:  die F\u00e4hrte haargenau ausarbeiten und die Gegenst\u00e4nde anzeigen. <\/p>

Bereitest Du deinen Hund auf ein Training vor? Hast Du ein Ritual oder w\u00e4rmst Du Deine Hunde auf? <\/em><\/p>

Ich w\u00e4rme immer auf. Wenn es eilt, dann zumindest kurz. Und Rituale… Wie ich schon sagte: unser Leben ist zu unberechenbar. Ich bin jedes Mal alleine mit Blicka gestartet. Kein Trainingspartner oder gar eine Mannschaft waren da, um mich an den Start zu bringen und Tipps zu geben. Darauf war ich aber auch vorbereitet. Ich habe mein Training deswegen so aufgebaut, dass ich nie von einer anderen Person abh\u00e4ngig bin. <\/p>

Spielst Du mit Deinen Hunden? <\/em><\/p>

Ich spiele eigentlich nicht viel mit erwachsenen Hunden. Das Training ist unser Spiel. Mein Training ist immer so gestaltet, dass meine Hunde es lieben und trainieren wollen. Au\u00dferhalb des Trainings verbringen wir einfach Zeit miteinander: wir gehen im Wald spazieren, fahren Fahrrad, schwimmen…<\/p>

English:<\/em><\/p>

Do you train your dogs separately for military service? Or do you cover sport and service in one training?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

Each dog has its own narrow specialization. But they all need to follow commands. Therefore, discipline comes first: both at home and at work. And there are other elements in my sport training that I need to cover during training for service as well. How the training is set up, really depends on the underlying goal.\u00a0<\/p>

If your goal is to end up on the the podium of the IGP world championship, then you need to work every day, make as few mistakes as possible in training and you will get closer to your goal in small steps. It is tedious and hard work.\u00a0<\/p>

Work in the service on the other hand requires different skills. What you don\u2019t need is the picture of a dog with perfect focus. It is not important how fast a dog takes a position, nobody asks for happiness in the eyes. But all specialties we have in service (searching for people or explosives for example) are extremely demanding. Sometimes things get very risky and one mistake can cost your own or someone else’s life.\u00a0<\/p>

If you were to demand from your dog the preciseness and expression asked for in sports and the demands from the service at once, the dog\u2019s work would turn out to be mediocre. And if in sports mediocrity is penalized with points, then in life a mistake can be fatal. Our (service) dogs all have an IGP base (the most difficult sport standard). In the process of training, we determine the particular strengths and weaknesses of the dog. This is very important for possible breeding activities. But having a base and being the best are two different things.<\/p>

What do you pay attention for when choosing a puppy for sport versus military? If you could choose any dog you wanted, would it be the same for the purposes of military and the purposes of sport. Or would you chose different dogs?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

For me, a good dog is a good dog. Therefore, the best dog for sports would equal the best dog in service. In my opinion, a GOOD dog that is successful in IGP sports can handle any service, but not every dog that successfully fulfills its task in the service can be equally successful in IGP.<\/p>

Can sport handlers and K9 handlers learn something from each other? What benefits can one bring to the other?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>

Of course. Sharing experiences is always useful. And we need to learn from the best. \u00a0Are there K9 handler statistics? Who evaluates the quality of their work? Where can you see their work? This information is usually unknown to the average sportsman. At a minimum, we should organize training sessions, for example in nosework\/tracking. Sport and K9 handlers could share the techniques they use in training.<\/p>

In your experience, how many dogs with the Police or military in Ukraine come from private breeders? At what age do they recruit their dogs? Do they have their own breeding program or did they have it in the past?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

I cannot answer for the police. But in the Ukrainian military, there are no breeding activities. All dogs come from private breeders.\u00a0<\/p>

Were you nervous at the World Championship \u2013 it was your first time. And did you notice that this translated over to Blicka?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

I can’t say that I wasn’t nervous at all, but with the war also came that my attitude towards some things changed radically. If you saw the video of our Protection, you will have noticed that I even forgot the routine. This was due to lack of training, my nerves and many other things. Right before tracking, I actually locked Blicka up in the car and forgot my keys in there. I had to break the window to prevent her from suffocating because it was very hot. This didn\u2019t help in calming me down.\u00a0<\/p>

What I was not worried or nervous about was my score. Normally, I go over A, B and C and determine if I am satisfied with my work and the work of the dog. Obviously, I was more than satisfied with the dog’s work and not always satisfied with mine. But we work as a team and where one makes a mistake, the other compensates for this mistake.<\/p>

Is Blicka a special or do you think you could be this successful again with another dog? How much is genetics and how much is training in your eyes?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

Of course, Blicka is special! I don’t know any other dog this devoted to work after a long time with proper training. She is like a universal soldier: a sport dog, a military dog, a nanny for my child and a pet. I always gave my best to work with her, even when the circumstances were difficult. And she always exceeded my expectations.\u00a0<\/p>

Unfortunately, I will not know soon whether I am able to achieve high results with another dog. My young German Shepherd died. The GSD was completely different compared with Blicka. But my training methods also worked on her. I see genetics as a possibility, a perspective. It\u2019s the handler who can reveal this potential.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0Which is your favorite: A, B or C?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

My favorite is Obedience. It requires the most from the handler, his skill, endurance in training. In Obedience you show the relationship between you and your dog. If you dog is confident and it your dog trusts you. Of course this plays in a role in A and C also \u2013 but the dog\u2019s instincts and drive overrule some of it. I don’t have one favorite exercise. But I interacting with my dog. It really is magic when the two of you can build the perfect workout picture just through your interaction.<\/p>

What is your opinion of tracking? I imagine that in real life you would never ask a dog to show the search behavior that we ask from our dogs. Does it make sense in your opinion?<\/em><\/p>

I am not a scientist; I will only share my personal experience with working dogs and my opinion may well bw faulty. IGP tracking is not natural for a dog. In my entire life, I have never seen a service or hunting dog that would naturally keep his nose down the entire time and sniff out each and every step. But this is exactly the requirement by the IGP rules. In IGP, I don’t see any binding to an individual scent.\u00a0<\/p>

Personally, I treat tracking as an element of obedience. I teach the dog a certain behavior, a technique of sniffing the trail and indicating the article.<\/p>

Do your dogs have a clear schedule (when and how much) – walks, training, feeding?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

I feed my dogs very frequently, by the hour, until they are about 4 months. My basic training is based on food motivation. My dogs eat during training or communication with me. I don\u2019t have a set schedule of walks or physical activity. Prior to the birth of my child, my everyday life was completely unpredictable. I was called into service at any given time. For a certain and long period in my life, I was sleep deprived because I chose training my dog over sleeping.\u00a0<\/p>

How often do you train your dogs and how long is a single training (off-season and when preparing for competitions)?<\/em><\/p>

\u00a0The activities with my dogs don\u2019t correlate with the sport season. But of course, the sport season brings with it pleasant weather where I like to spend more time outside. The off-season is winter and I prefer the warmth, under a blanket. For me, dogsport is my passion. I train when I have free time and want to train. Only when I am following a certain goal, I set up a plan. I actually need a goal in order to come up with a training plan. But everything depends on the individual dog.<\/p>

\u00a0Do you prepare the dog for work? Do you have a ritual or do you warm up your dog?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

\u00a0Of course! Warm-up is a must. At least minimal, if there is no time for it. And rituals… As I already said, our life is unpredictable. For example, I was alone at each competition Blicka participated in. There was no one to help me with a warm up, take me to the start or give valuable advice. But I prepared for this and built my training in a way that I would not depend on anyone and would always be ready to work.<\/p>

\u00a0Do you have „lazy“ days when you allow yourself to cancel training and simply do nothing?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

Of course!!! Sometimes I even say to myself „no more dogs“ in the house. The birth of my child and the war canceled my active training life for a couple of years. You can afford to be lazy if the dog\u2019s basic training – 2-3 years of the dog’s life – was flawless.<\/p>

\u00a0In your opinion, what is most important in achieving high results – genetics, personal characteristics of the dog, or training?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

Everything affects a high result. Personally, I put genetics at the top of this pyramid. But genetics is a potential with which a person must be able to work.<\/p>

Do you play with your dogs? What games?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

I don\u2019t just play. For us, training is our game. I build the training in a way that the dog likes it and wants to train. When we are not training, we just spend time together: we walk in the forest, ride a bike, swim…<\/p>

Do you teach some silly commands?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

My dogs know silly commands (bunny, turn, snake, etc.). It happens that these are the tricks I use to warm up my dogs before training. \u00a0<\/p>
