On January 10, 2026, a meeting will be held in Ennepetal to discuss the issues that matter to service, breeding, and sport in the working dog sector. Our goal is clear: to build bridges instead of deepening divides and to discuss, based on facts, where the work with working dogs should develop.<\/p>

We are really looking forward to this coming Saturday. We have secured top-class speakers who will take theory, practice and discussion to a new level.<\/p>

Over 160 participants on site and many more online: Representatives of almost all working dog breeding and sports associations, authorities from Germany, Switzerland and Austria \u2013 and of course our K9andSports ambassadors.<\/p>

The speakers:<\/strong><\/h6>

Jens Frank (SDWI)<\/strong> is internationally recognized for his work with scent and detection dogs. He combines theory and practical demonstrations with us \u2013 providing insights that are equally valuable for law enforcement agencies and athletes.<\/p>

Prof. Dr. Julia Metzger's<\/strong> presentation, \"From Genes to Working Dog Traits \u2013 Modern Breeding from a Scientific Perspective,\" takes us into the world of genetics: How can performance, health, and responsibility be combined in breeding?<\/p>

Dr. Esther Schalke (German Armed Forces)<\/strong> will be present to provide expert commentary on the dog evaluation moderated by Hans Ebbers. Genuine discussions are expected \u2013 factual, open, and respectful.<\/p>

    Our Gebrauchshund HEUTE, will take place again in 2026, and the response has been overwhelming. With participants from Germany and abroad, as well as from nearly all working dog breed associations, the meeting will once again foster exchange between service and sport, practice and science.<\/p>\n

    The focus is on environmental safety and scent work, accompanied by experts such as Prof. Julia Metzer and Dr. Esther Schalke. Jens Frank combines theory and practical demonstrations of scent and detection dog work \u2013 with insights that are equally valuable for law enforcement agencies and athletes. Furthermore, insights into detection dog training by Hans Ebbers and the Bleckede Customs Dog School make the event particularly practical.<\/p>\n

    With 120 registered participants, the event is fully booked; an online stream is being prepared for everyone else.
