An interview with Mirko Ritter from Herm. Sprenger GmbH

K9andSports: Sprenger supports K9andSports. What motivated you to support us as a sponsor? What common goals and values do you share with K9andSports?

Sprenger: The Federal Council's surprising decision to change the TierSchHuV caused a lot of discussion in 2021 and kept us extremely busy as a manufacturer of products that are used in dog training or tests.

This decision revealed that the working dog sport will be massively affected in the way it works and further changes could follow.

Gregor von Schweikert told us about the founding of K9andSports, who was behind it and told us the goals.

As a result, we were impressed by your expertise, your reach, and the acceptance in the industry and authorities. We were also fascinated by the rapid growth in the number of K9andSport supporters and the achievement of the first goals. We certainly also have an economic interest in the continued existence of working dog sports. However, through our sponsorship we also see the opportunity to support excellent charitable work in order to increase the acceptance of dog sports in society.

K9andSports: Sprenger is known for its products in equestrian sports, sailing and especially dog necklaces. How closely are you connected to dog sports? What role do your products play in dog sports and how do they contribute to improving performance and safety?

Sprenger: Sprenger is probably the best-known manufacturer of dog collars. In this respect, there has been a connection with dog sports for many years. We are in constant communication with our customers who bring our products to consumers. However, the work at the base was only intensified a few years ago, in which K9andSports is not entirely uninvolved.

Product safety is a top priority at Sprenger. We therefore continue to produce our dog necklaces in Germany and continually invest in our location in order to be able to guarantee the high quality standards. In this way, we provide the athlete with products that he can rely on and can therefore focus fully on working with the dog.

K9andSports: We had the honor of welcoming you to the DMC Championship 2024. What impressions and experiences did you gain there?

Sprenger: We were very happy about your invitation to the DMC Championship and were able to see dog sport at the highest level. On site we met some of our customers, many expert visitors and a sports club who enjoyed their work.

We were impressed by the professionalism of the event. Therefore, big praise to the organizing team.

Despite the bad weather, we felt the mood was good. The people were in a good mood and helpful.

K9andSports: Were there any special moments or experiences that you remember from this event?

Sprenger: I hadn't seen Gabi Hamm for many years and was able to meet her at the championship. That made me very happy.

K9andSports: Are there any specific innovations or technologies in your dog sports products that you are particularly proud of? How do you ensure that your products meet the high requirements and standards in dog sports?

Sprenger: We are in a constant process of new product development and improvement. We are proud of the manufacturing processes and machines specifically tailored to our products, which enable our quality and ensure product safety. In addition, we train ourselves and train our employees in order to be able to maintain the high requirements over the long term.

K9andSports: What future plans does Sprenger have in the area of dog sports? Are you planning further partnerships or initiatives to promote dog sports?

Sprenger: Sprenger will remain loyal to dog sports and will continue to develop products in the future in order to continue to provide athletes with products that meet the high quality and safety requirements.

K9andSports: Are you planning further partnerships or initiatives to promote dog sports?

Sprenger: We are currently not planning any further partnerships. But who knows what's coming. We hadn't planned to work with K9andSport either. 😉
