Dear participants of the Youngstars Camp 2025,
Dear organizers,
Dear friends and supporters of working dogs,
I'm extremely pleased that the IGP YOUNGSTARS 2025 will take place in Gaimersheim from July 19 to 20, 2025. Up to 300 participants will have the opportunity to further develop and train their working dog skills. Experienced dog sports enthusiasts from many nations will serve as volunteer instructors. This allows the next generation to learn from the best.
Working dogs make an important contribution to the safety and protection of our society: Police dogs track down wanted individuals. Rescue dogs find people in rubble or missing persons.

In addition, guide dogs, signal dogs, and assistance dogs enable people with disabilities to lead independent lives. Working dogs also promote discipline, responsibility, and respect in dealing with animals. Young people, in particular, benefit from training and working with dogs. The shared interaction between humans and animals builds patience and teamwork, as well as the self-confidence of young people.
The dogs benefit too. Working dog sports provide mental and physical stimulation for the four-legged friends and strengthen the bond between animal and owner. Working dogs impressively demonstrate how deep the connection with their humans can be. The animals don't work out of compulsion, but because they enjoy it. In working dog sports, humans and animals interact as equals – with great benefits for society as a whole.
I am particularly pleased that working dog training was added to UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in April 2025. Since the domestication of dogs approximately 15,000 years ago, the close cooperation between humans and animals has continued to develop and become institutionalized in associations and organizations. Working dog training transmits knowledge of breeding and training, based on the humane treatment of dogs. Through clear ethical standards, working dog training also promotes responsible dog ownership.
Working with dogs also contributes to the creation of identity for numerous communities. And, above all, it brings joy. We can experience this firsthand at the IGP YOUNGSTARS 2025 event. Young people under the age of 25 have the opportunity to learn from experienced trainers and discover their own strengths.
I'm convinced that the two days in Gaimersheim will be an unforgettable and educational experience. I wish all of you, both two-legged and four-legged friends, lots of fun and success!
