That there is an increase in violations of animal protection laws in connection with the topic of protection dog sports or generally among dog owners who train their dogs sportingly, I cannot confirm in any way from my experience as a criminal judge. In all these years, I have not had a single case on my desk where someone from this group was accused of violating animal protection laws. The cases involving dog owners all dealt with, in some cases, the most heinous abuses of normal household dogs, whose owners acted out of overwhelm, ignorance, or simply cruelty. With the right help, education, connection to clubs, and meaningful engagement with their animals, many cases could surely have been avoided.
